About the position

The Master Math Teacher position at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Academy is designed to support math instruction for grades K-12. This role involves collaborating with classroom teachers to implement effective teaching strategies that align with content standards, utilizing the multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) framework to enhance student outcomes. The Master Teacher will also engage in professional development activities, provide coaching, and analyze data to inform instructional practices.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with school administration and the classroom teacher to provide targeted instructional strategies.
  • Demonstrate instructional expertise and coaching skills.
  • Support professional learning communities in developing classroom practices.
  • Develop, facilitate, and evaluate professional development activities aligned to school goals.
  • Improve classroom teaching by observing, coaching, and modeling effective strategies.
  • Conduct follow-up teacher conferences providing actionable feedback.
  • Oversee planning and facilitation of school-based professional development.
  • Assist teachers in applying new professional learning.
  • Analyze data from multiple sources to identify student learning trends.
  • Support an instructional program conducive to accelerated student achievement.
  • Investigate and evaluate instructional research to support teachers.
  • Regularly assess student learning and provide timely feedback.
  • Align standards, curricula, instructional strategies, and assessment tools with colleagues.
  • Team-teach and demonstrate model lessons to support diverse learning needs.
  • Facilitate professional development and attend related meetings.
  • Participate in professional development workshops and leadership training.
  • Create an inclusive environment with positive communication.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Valid NC Teaching license in content specific area required.
  • Minimum of five years' experience as a successful content area teacher required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of curriculum principles and standards.
  • Knowledge of staff development practices and techniques.
  • Ability to utilize data for instructional decisions.
  • Skilled in current software applications including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Education preferred.
