About the position

The Mashamoquet Brook State Park is seeking seasonal employees for various roles from mid-April to mid-September, with some positions extending into October and November. The roles include Ticket Booth Attendants, Office Supervisors, Interpretive Guides, Maintainers, Crew Leaders, Park Maintenance Supervisors, Campground Office Staff, Campground Supervisors, Park Rangers, and Park Ranger Supervisors. Each position requires a commitment of 5 shifts per week, including weekends, not exceeding 1,030 hours total. The purpose of these roles is to provide support and services to park visitors, maintain park facilities, and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general ticket booth services, including ringing up and accepting parking fees, selling season passes, and greeting park visitors.
  • Oversee office operations, resolve complaints, train and supervise staff, and manage ticket booth activities.
  • Conduct interpretive programs to enhance public understanding of natural resources and assist with program development.
  • Perform maintenance tasks such as litter pickup, cleaning, mowing, and using hand tools and machinery.
  • Supervise a crew of seasonal maintainers and assist in job planning and equipment operation.
  • Assist in the maintenance of recreational facilities, train and supervise staff, and perform skilled trades work.
  • Provide general camp office support, register campers, and collect camping fees.
  • Manage campground operations, assist visitors, and oversee camp office staff.
  • Act as primary visitor contact, assist with operational duties, and ensure safety in the park.
  • Supervise seasonal park rangers, manage operations, and assist with visitor interactions.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old for most positions.
  • Ability to follow instructions and perform physical tasks as required.
  • Experience in retail and/or customer service for Ticket Booth Attendant and Campground Office Staff roles.
  • Extensive experience in outdoor recreation management for Office Supervisor and Park Ranger Supervisor roles.
  • Experience or education in natural sciences for Interpretive Guide role.
  • Experience in custodial work, landscaping, or related skilled trades for Maintainer and Crew Leader roles.
  • Experience with maintenance of recreational facilities for Park Maintenance Supervisor role.
  • Experience in campground management for Campground Supervisor role.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic First Aid Certificate for supervisory roles.
  • Valid Motor Vehicle Operator license for certain positions.
  • License to apply pesticides for specific roles.
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification may be required for certain facilities.
  • American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguarding Certification for lifeguard services.
