About The Position

Vermilion is seeking a Marketing & Commercial Data Analyst to strengthen our North American commodity marketing activities and elevate the way we use data to drive commercial performance. This role blends commercial acumen, advanced analytics, and process optimization to support crude oil, natural gas, and NGL marketing while contributing to Vermilion’s global risk management efforts. You will be responsible for core Marketing operations—production and sales tracking, contract and statement verification, and market analysis—while also building tools, insights, and automation that directly improve commercial decision‑making. This is a high‑visibility role for someone who thrives at the intersection of data, markets, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • University degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Data Analytics, Programming, or a related field.
  • A minimum of two years progressive Oil & Gas experience.
  • Experience in commodity marketing, trading, or commercial analysis preferred.
  • Understanding of crude oil, natural gas, and NGL value chains and marketing processes.
  • Experience working with production, pricing, or contract data is an asset.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including modeling and large dataset management.
  • Power BI proficiency and strong data-modeling capabilities.
  • Familiarity with automation tools and AI-enabled analytics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive, improvement-oriented mindset with a focus on automation, efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Support forecasting, nomination, and tracking of commodity volumes, ensuring alignment between production and sales.
  • Administer and manage marketing contracts and purchase statements, including tracking and verification of crude, natural gas, and NGL transactions.
  • Prepare and maintain commercial tracking tools for pricing, volumes, and contract performance.
  • Provide accounting support, including accruals and adherence to internal compliance processes.
  • Participate in regulatory and industry committees and communicate key developments to management.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Risk Management, Operations, and Finance teams to ensure reporting and analytics meet evolving business needs.
  • Automate recurring workflows such as statement review, reporting updates, and data aggregation.
  • Streamline manual spreadsheets with structured datasets, automation tools, and database‑driven processes.
  • Design, enhance, and maintain Power BI dashboards that support real-time commercial decisions.
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools to strengthen market intelligence and deliver insights that support commodity sales strategy.
  • Provide timely, data‑driven market analysis to support commercial strategy across Vermilion’s commodity portfolios.
