About the position

The Market Grille Cook at Hy-Vee is responsible for providing prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service while preparing various foods for the Market Grille. This includes managing all hot and cold food items, including heat-and-eat varieties. The role emphasizes customer interaction, teamwork, and adherence to sanitation and hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions.
• Greets customers in a friendly manner and makes an effort to learn their names.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, and loading or unloading heavy items.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides helpful service to callers.
• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Prepares cooking surfaces and menu items including vegetables, sides, meats, and breakfast foods.
• Monitors food in hot cases and refills as necessary.
• Takes guests' orders and prepares items for upcoming shifts.
• Maintains cleanliness and proper sanitation procedures in the work area.
• Adheres to company policies and reports to work on time.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• Six months or less of similar or related work experience.
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
• Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
