About the position

The Market Grille Clerk at Hy-Vee is responsible for providing prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service in the Market Grille department. This role involves handling food safely, maintaining cleanliness in the work area, and ensuring customer satisfaction through various support tasks. The clerk will engage with customers, take orders, and work collaboratively with team members to enhance the shopping experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all customer interactions.
• Greets customers in a friendly manner and makes an effort to learn their names.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing items that are out of reach, and loading or unloading heavy items.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly service to customers who call, including taking orders.
• Takes customer orders at the Market Grille counter.
• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Handles food in a safe manner and ensures the work area is always clean and neat.
• Reviews the status and appearance of food for freshness and ensures an adequate food supply is ready.
• Prepares and replenishes product as necessary and anticipates product needs for the department.
• Runs the department registers, receives payment, and makes change as applicable.
• Removes trash in a timely manner and maintains adherence to hygiene and dress guidelines.

Requirements

• Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions.
• Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction and count and record figures.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.

• Six months or less of similar or related work experience.
