About the position

The Camp Experience Manager at Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Mariposa Day Camp, including staff supervision, program development, and ensuring safety procedures are followed. This role involves actively participating in camp activities, providing guidance to staff, and maintaining effective communication with all camp personnel. The position aims to deliver a fun and safe camp experience for all participants while fostering an inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and evaluate camp staff including Counselors, Coordinators, and Junior Counselors.
  • Develop and implement program activities for all facets of camp.
  • Provide regular feedback and recommendations regarding staff performance to the Outdoor Program Supervisor.
  • Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, supporting and guiding leaders.
  • Maintain clear and positive communication with all camp staff.
  • Function as an Acting Director in accordance with LA County Children's Camp Guidelines.
  • Deliver a fun and safe program that meets camp standards.
  • Prepare and implement program schedules that align with camp outcomes and camper abilities.
  • Evaluate the success of programs and the development of campers' skills.
  • Serve as a role model to campers and staff in attitude and behavior.
  • Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures.
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of overall camp operations.
  • Address program concerns in a timely manner and communicate changes effectively.
  • Assist in planning and implementing staff training.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to families.
  • Collaborate with the Camp Experience Coordinator to create program guides and schedules.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age as per LA County Children's Camp Guidelines.
  • Available for 10 weeks of day camp (June 18, 2025 - August 22, 2025) and pre-camp training dates.
  • Possess and maintain a valid CPR/First Aid Certification throughout employment.
  • At least 2 years of documented experience teaching or interacting with youth programs.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds periodically and endure prolonged standing, bending, and stretching.

Nice-to-haves

  • College credits in health, child development, education, psychology, or related field.
