About The Position

As a sandblaster, your job is to remove paint, rust, and other material build-ups from rough surfaces using specialized equipment that sprays abrasive materials. The material is typically a mixture of coarse sand and/or steel shot and compressed air. High pressure forces the mixture through a hose to smooth or clean the surface. Requirements

  • Ability to proactively troubleshoot problems
  • Work as a team within department and with other departments and Leads
  • Ability to work scheduled hours and comply with all other company policies
  • Experience in various blasting operations
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Physical capability to properly handle tooling and safely set up large pieces; including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning products.
  • Must be able to stand, sit and bend for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Remove built-up material from surfaces
  • Set up and operate a blast booth for steel shot or similar equipment
  • Load and unload the blast cabinet
  • Apply and remove non-skid materials as needed
  • Operates abrasive blasting or steel shot equipment
  • Lining removal, pressure washing, solvent wiping, grinding and abrasive blasting
  • Prepares parts for blasting by performing inspection for unwanted materials and other contaminants
  • Basic trouble-shooting of equipment
  • Shovel, rake, and/or vacuum sand and metal and place sand and metal in hopper.
  • Move, stack and deliver materials manually and with the use of a forklift
  • Collaborating with other departments to complete production orders on time
  • Complying with internal policies and industry regulations
  • Follow instructions and/or direction given by supervisors to complete assigned work projects
  • Ensure work area is clean and safe
