About The Position

This hands-on role is responsible for planning, implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving the Quality Management System, while providing quality engineering support to enhance purchased part quality. The role leads supplier quality assurance and development activities in alignment with the Supplier Certification and Quality Assessment program to ensure incoming materials and services consistently meet the highest quality standards and drive ongoing improvement. The position reports directly to the ITW Weigh Wrap Senior Global Quality Manager and supports organizational needs by applying quality standards and methodologies across the current and future supply base. This role leads the improvement of supplier quality programs, systems, and procedures, while establishing and maintaining quality standards for all suppliers. It recommends and drives improvements and corrective actions to ensure high performance and ongoing cost reduction, and manages the supply base to ensure assembly plant quality standards are consistently met and maintained.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related engineering field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 5+ Years Experience in using APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, Core Tools, GD&T, and First Article Inspections (FAIs)
  • Strong background in problem-solving, auditing, and continuous improvement within mechanical and electrical manufacturing environments
  • Experience in both Supplier Quality and Process Quality, driving performance improvements and ensuring compliance to print specifications & standards
  • Hands-on expertise in part inspection and qualification, including APQP, PPAP, CTQ, AQL, and Layout Inspection methodologies
  • Detail-oriented project management experience with a focus on execution and results
  • Background in mechanical and electrical manufacturing and assembly
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and GD&T proficiency
  • Knowledge of Lean organizational systems, including 6S, Kanban, and Just-in-Time (JIT) principles
  • Clear and effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, with presentation experience
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships
  • Skilled in resolving conflict constructively, promoting collaboration and alignment
  • Effective active listening and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and implement solutions
  • Strong analytical approach, capable of gathering information, navigating complex issues, and making timely decisions
  • Solid understanding and application of Statistical Process Control (SPC)

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with key personnel across ITW FEG businesses
  • Gather part information/data related to new product releases and engineering changes
  • Develop and review sampling inspection plans and testing methods to ensure incoming materials meet specifications
  • Lead investigations of nonconforming material, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
  • Conduct supplier audits and assessments to evaluate performance, manufacturing processes, and system capabilities
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and purchasing teams to resolve quality issues and drive supplier corrective actions
  • Prepare and present performance reports, including supplier ratings, quality metrics, schedules, and 8D tracking
  • Coordinate supplier qualification and approval processes for new suppliers and new product introductions (NPI)
  • Provide technical support to suppliers, addressing part design and quality-related issues
  • Review and ensure effectiveness of supplier quality planning, including PFMEAs, Gage R&R studies, control plans, and inspection plans
  • Ensure supplier compliance with engineering changes (ECNs/EPIC) and product specifications
  • Align supplier measurement systems with internal inspection methods through periodic correlation reviews.
  • Enforce Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) standards in alignment with the Quality Management System and continuous improvement initiatives (80/20 principles)
  • Apply statistical methods and data analysis to monitor and improve key process characteristics
  • Support supplier certification programs and performance measurement systems
  • Coordinate First Article Inspections (FAI), PPAP submissions, and product qualification activities
  • Participate in ISO audits and quality system development initiatives
  • Support sourcing activities, including evaluation and development of alternate or consolidated suppliers
  • Contribute to design and material improvements to enhance manufacturability, serviceability, quality, and efficiency
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver customer-focused quality solutions, using proactive analysis to identify customer pain points and drive value-added improvements
  • Support supplier certification and performance programs, including evaluating supplier performance, processes, and capabilities to ensure robust and effective quality systems
  • Provide oversight of supplier corrective actions, ensuring timely follow-up, thorough review of solutions, and final approval of implemented resolutions
