About the position

The Manufacturing Machine Operator position at AMI Metals involves operating machinery to cut and verify parts according to customer specifications. The role is essential in ensuring quality control and adherence to safety policies while maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Responsibilities

• Verifies stock to work order requirements including alloy, temper, gauge, size, producer, lot number, and grain direction.
• Sets up saw and cuts parts, ensuring they meet customer tolerances using micrometer and caliper instruments.
• Marks each part with customer-required identification and labels remnants per AMI policy.
• Stamps work orders with quality inspection stamps as required by the Quality Control manual.
• Performs daily maintenance checks of the metal saw and completes the checklist.
• Conducts weekly maintenance as per schedule and maintains daily housekeeping of the work area.
• Coordinates the pickup of scrap metal containers and adheres to safety policies and procedures.
• Operates forklift and overhead crane as required and performs in-process and final inspection of parts.
• Participates in Total Quality Management (TQM) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) meetings as required.
• May perform additional duties such as physical receiving and packing in smaller facilities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Forklift Certification (training provided).
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with micrometers and calipers.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality control standards.
