About the position

You will provide primary legal direction which may include a single office or multiple offices. Act exclusively as the division's local management representative. This is a primarily home role, but candidates must reside in the upper East Coast region and have experience with RI, MA or CT files. You will report to a legal director. Join us today!

Responsibilities

  • Oversee staff attorneys and office metrics to verify that the representation of the insured and/or the company is of a scope and quality appropriate to the nature of each case and that representation of the insured or the company is conducted in accordance with applicable rules of professional conduct for attorneys.
  • Resources, selects, negotiates, and contracts with vendors for litigation related services.
  • Manage case file assignment, office metrics, and ensure schedule of case file management through monthly file review.
  • Participate in the legal strategy of files handled by litigation staff attorneys.
  • Participate in roundtables to help develop legal strategy on claims.
  • Analyze litigation risk to clients.
  • Create a collaborative, performance-driven work environment by facilitating and encouraging trust, transparency, and inclusion.
  • Works with team members to set clear goals, provide feedback, perform performance assessments, and support ongoing development.
  • Lead with influence and expertise. Contribute to division or department leadership team. Communicate and support organization mission, vision, values, policies, and practices.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service.
  • Demonstrated civil trial experience.
  • Demonstrated experience dealing with issues related to (i) tort law, (ii) litigation practice, and (iii) property and casualty insurance contracts, law and regulation.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of rules of Professional Responsibility for the jurisdiction in which they practice.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of tort, contract, and insurance law.
  • Admitted to the state bar in RI, MA, or CT; or admission to the RI, MA, or CT bar within one (1) year of hire for individuals who must pass a bar exam; or, gain full reciprocity and waived into bar admission no later than six (6) months from date of hire.
  • Juris Doctor
