About the position

The Manager, U.S. Credit Risk, Risk Reporting at Scotiabank is responsible for overseeing the development and production of credit risk portfolio reporting and analytical tools. This role involves managing the portfolio reconciliation process, ensuring data quality, and providing timely reporting to senior management. The position is integral to the efficient assessment and management of credit risk within the organization, contributing to the overall success of the Global Banking and Markets division.

Responsibilities

  • Create, design, and develop credit risk portfolio reporting tools for U.S. Credit Risk portfolio information presentation.
  • Optimize and expand existing management information systems (MIS) for robust credit risk portfolio monitoring.
  • Lead monthly credit risk portfolio reporting and prepare standard regulatory reporting presentations.
  • Serve as the data quality officer for U.S. Credit Risk data, leading efforts to ensure data quality.
  • Collect, aggregate, and remediate data quality gaps in collaboration with GBM and U.S. Data Governance officers.
  • Lead monthly and quarterly reconciliation of reporting between U.S. Credit and Finance.
  • Develop and implement processes, procedures, and controls related to credit risk portfolio reporting and data quality control.
  • Provide timely responses to ad hoc reporting and portfolio information requests from various stakeholders.
  • Support U.S. Credit Risk efforts, potentially providing analytical support in collaboration with U.S. Finance, Risk Analytics, and Data Governance.
  • Work independently to complete tasks and deliver accurate reporting packages within deadlines.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience, preferably in a financial institution.
  • Experience in information management and implementing effective information systems.
  • Credit risk knowledge and experience is an asset.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.
  • Advanced data management and report building skills.
  • Strong financial, accounting, and computer literacy skills.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proficiency in Power BI, Tableau, Excel, and preferably SQL.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of the Bank's wholesale products, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience in project and process management disciplines.
