About the position

The Manager Technical Architecture at Westinghouse Electric Co. is responsible for leading a team of internal and contract Technical and Solutions architects. This role involves overseeing complex solution design evaluations and providing architectural guidance on technology strategy matters. The manager will collaborate with various technical teams to develop architecture standards and ensure the delivery of secure and resilient technology architectures that meet organizational requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of internal and contract Technical and Solutions architects.
  • Provide architectural guidance on technology strategy matters.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to develop architecture standards and guidelines.
  • Lead a high-performance team focused on designing secure and resilient technology architectures.
  • Responsible for all Solution Architecture activities during requirements gathering, solution ideation, design, development, and documentation.
  • Translate reference architectures into physical designs considering business requirements and existing systems.
  • Create and maintain IT design policies covering connectivity, capacity, interfaces, security, and resilience.
  • Propose design enhancements to IT infrastructure and ensure service levels are met.
  • Mature and expand the scope of citizen architecture to improve delivery.
  • Set technology direction and establish standards in conjunction with Enterprise Architecture.
  • Collaborate with various architects to ensure understanding and buy-in.
  • Continuously improve onboarding processes and documentation standards.
  • Drive continuity of design reviews while maintaining flexibility.
  • Provide Architect resource management across the architecture team within the IT PMO process.
  • Develop staffing forecasts to meet a six-month lookahead.
  • Manage team annual objectives, performance reviews, and employee development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of IT specific work experience.
  • At least 4 years in lead or managerial roles.
  • Professional Level Certification in a technical area (SAP, Microsoft, Cisco, Arista, ITIL, etc.) preferred.
  • Recognized as a technical expert and resource manager.
  • Strong communication skills across IT and business professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability in process management and continuous improvement.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Demonstrated decision-making, analytical skills, and project management abilities.
