About the position

The position involves supervising and directing the Reliability Engineers and Inspection Services at Valero. The individual will be responsible for managing an effective mechanical integrity program that promotes equipment reliability, process safety, and compliance with company and OSHA PSM standards. This includes developing and implementing reliability improvement plans and assisting in driving reliability initiatives with Maintenance. The role also emphasizes promoting environmental and safety goals, maintaining communication with the complex team, overseeing preventive and predictive maintenance, and ensuring the safe operation of fixed equipment. The position requires the establishment of Mechanical Integrity work processes and the identification of gaps within the program for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and directs the Reliability Engineers and Inspection Services.
  • Manages an effective mechanical integrity program promoting equipment reliability and process safety.
  • Develops and implements reliability improvement plans.
  • Maintains monthly communication meetings with the complex team.
  • Oversees implementation and sustained use of preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Utilizes Engineering and Specialist staff for operator training and equipment standardization.
  • Identifies parameters for the safe operation of fixed equipment.
  • Collects and monitors inspection data and provides feedback on equipment limits.
  • Notifies site management of past due inspections and recommends corrective actions.
  • Establishes and maintains Mechanical Integrity work processes and procedures.
  • Identifies gaps within the Mechanical Integrity program and maintains a gap closure program.
  • Establishes, analyzes, and distributes KPIs for program improvements.
  • Communicates issues related to fixed equipment reliability to site organizations.
  • Ensures qualified inspection personnel provide meaningful data for decision-making.
  • Provides direct supervision and leadership to reliability and inspection staff.
  • Approves schedules, deferrals, and inspection plans.
  • Provides turnaround oversight for mechanical integrity inspections and repairs.
  • Reviews capital projects with attention to maintenance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree (or higher degree) in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 10 years of specific refinery related experience in maintenance/engineering areas required.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience required.
  • Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero Memphis Refinery.
  • Eligible to obtain a TWIC card.
