About the position

The Manager, Regional Philanthropy for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is responsible for building and managing relationships with major donors in the Western Region, focusing on securing significant gifts of $25K and above. This role involves developing strategies to expand WWF's network of philanthropists and to elevate individual philanthropy, with a target of raising over $1 million annually. The position requires a strong understanding of donor engagement and collaboration with various teams to enhance fundraising efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to identify, cultivate, and secure six-figure, seven-figure, and complex gifts, aiming to raise an average of $1M or more per year.
  • Manage a personal portfolio of 50-75 individuals, including donors, prospects, and suspects throughout the ten-state region.
  • Collaborate with various teams to ensure effective use of resources and enhance cultivation and stewardship plans for major donors.
  • Create a prospecting strategy for the region with assistance from Prospect Management.
  • Cultivate and steward regionally-based community foundations and other emerging platforms for high-end philanthropy.
  • Support regional events and help inform and execute a strategic event plan for the region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • A minimum of 8 years of demonstrated major gift fundraising success with experience in closing complex gifts and relationship building.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Ability to conceptualize and implement donor cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of and passion for environmental issues.
  • Professionalism, integrity, adaptability, and enthusiasm.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with and/or knowledge of the Bay Area/Silicon Valley tech community and/or LA is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of gift planning is preferred.
