About the position

The Manager of Quality & Patient Safety at PeaceHealth is responsible for overseeing the quality department's activities, ensuring that quality goals are met, and providing leadership in patient safety and regulatory compliance. This role involves managing staff, leading quality improvement initiatives, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance patient care and safety across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the activities of Quality & Patient Safety, ensuring goals are achieved and service excellence is provided.
  • Lead and supervise community resources assigned to quality across inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Oversee local patient safety and regulatory functions to promote compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Collaborate with other leaders to maintain alignment with system goals and support clinical improvement projects.
  • Serve as co-chair for the Quality Management Committee and implement the annual quality improvement plan.
  • Monitor performance and document improvement initiatives to meet quality goals.
  • Support the regulatory team with readiness and accreditation surveys, providing coaching to process owners.
  • Take responsibility for facility-specific patient safety activities and partner with consultants to implement improvements.
  • Ensure the ministry has reliable processes and systematically monitors performance for high-quality patient care.
  • Participate in budget planning and monitor expenditures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years in healthcare administration or safety experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of quality improvement experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of patient safety, regulatory, and quality improvement preferred.
  • Training in statistical process control methods preferred.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality required within 2 years.

  • Advanced skills in quality improvement methodologies and tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to multiple audiences.
  • Familiarity with CMS Conditions of Participation and relevant accreditation standards.

  • Proficient with MS Office applications.
  • Strong facilitation and delegation skills.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in working with community leaders.
