About the position

As a Manager of Product Safety & Quality at Starbucks, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and quality of our products, which is fundamental to our mission of delivering exceptional experiences to our customers. You will be responsible for inspiring and guiding your team to achieve their best, while also creating an environment that promotes growth and development. In this role, you will ensure that each partner has clarity in their job responsibilities and will guide them in setting and achieving meaningful goals that contribute to both personal and organizational success. You will engage in purposeful development discussions that not only generate insights but also drive performance improvements. Your focus will be on developing talent within the organization and advocating for partners seeking growth opportunities. You will celebrate successes and address performance gaps, understanding that continuous improvement is key to our success. You will also be responsible for developing departmental plans and organizational priorities that align with company programs and strategic initiatives. This includes establishing goals for your team, allocating resources effectively, and modeling behaviors that reflect our company values. You will lead your team in delivering effective processes that ensure customer and partner trust in food and product safety and quality. Your leadership will involve motivating and collaborating with your team and peers, applying best practices in quality assurance and food safety, and building inclusive and diverse teams. Additionally, you will hold your team accountable for identifying and troubleshooting complex quality and product safety issues, ensuring that appropriate mitigation steps are taken to resolve any serious concerns. You will interface with external experts, organizations, suppliers, and key partnerships to keep Starbucks at the forefront of quality and food safety best practices. Your expertise will be essential in representing the department and Starbucks in discussions about our Food Safety & Quality programs and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead using proven experience and best practices in quality assurance and food safety.
  • Build effective, inclusive, and diverse teams.
  • Hold team members accountable for identifying and troubleshooting quality and safety issues.
  • Interface with outside experts and organizations to stay updated on best practices.
  • Represent the department in explaining and defending Food Safety & Quality programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or related field.
  • Proven ability to train, mentor, and motivate other partners.
  • Ability to manage and resolve conflict effectively.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise verbal, written, and visual presentations.
  • Solutions-oriented with proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze disparate information and draw appropriate conclusions.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and challenge the status quo.
  • Build effective and influential relationships internally and externally.
  • Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP Principles, GFSI schemes.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • 10 years of experience in a relevant field.
