About the position

The Manager of Operational Safety at Universal Orlando is responsible for leading a team focused on ensuring the safety of guests and team members across all rides and attractions. This role involves managing various safety programs, conducting audits, and responding to safety trends while maintaining compliance with safety standards. The manager will supervise Safety Coaches and the Safety First Team, ensuring that safety procedures are consistently followed and documented.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular guest safety audits around the resort and address observations.
  • Review daily incident reports and track corrective actions to completion.
  • Respond to Guest and Team Member safety trends and ensure proper action is taken.
  • Analyze and respond to various reports including guest comments, downtimes, and incident reports.
  • Fulfill legal requests for discovery information and schedule meetings when necessary.
  • Stay current with ASTM safety standards and UPR standards and procedures.
  • Ensure the safety of guests by reviewing and revising safety practices and procedures.
  • Manage a team of Attractions Safety Coaches who perform daily audits of operational procedure compliance.
  • Assist with the creation of quarterly presentations.
  • Manage the CPI (Compliance Process Improvement) audit program.
  • Manage the quarterly Attractions Operations Safety Recognition Program.
  • Participate in yearly Attractions Operations Evacuation Drills for all dry park attractions.
  • Engage in Production Shoots to ensure safety guidelines are followed.
  • Partner with Talent Development to ensure proper safety content is presented in OJT training programs.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High school degree or GED is required.
  • Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • AIMS certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ASTM F24 standards preferred.
