About the position

The Manager of Environmental Services (EVS) and Nutrition is responsible for overseeing the environmental services staff and ensuring that the facilities are maintained in a safe, clean, and operationally effective condition. This role involves managing schedules, compliance with regulations, staff training, and performance evaluations, while also coordinating with other departments to meet service needs.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises staff regarding quality standards, department policies, and service levels.
  • Creates and manages departmental schedules using the PAYCOM system.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Interviews and selects environmental services and Nutrition personnel.
  • Conducts annual performance evaluations in the department.
  • Maintains adherence to environmental services departmental policies and procedures relative to various regulations.
  • Coordinates, schedules, oversees, and conducts employee training and development.
  • Performs area inspections to evaluate performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures compliance with sanitation and food temperatures for inspections.
  • Completes daily general inspections and monthly inspections in all building areas.
  • Supervises EVS and Nutrition employees to ensure adherence to standards and procedures.
  • Assists in maintaining budget compliance and identifies cost-saving opportunities.
  • Participates in Environment of Care inspections.
  • Manages and maintains EVS and Nutritional inventory supplies.
  • Assists in ordering supplies and inventory logistics.
  • Holds monthly staff meetings for EVS & Nutrition staff.
  • Ensures staff complete all mandatory training and employment requirements.
  • Assists in developing and implementing departmental policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates special projects as assigned.
  • Creates and manages work orders and logistics for equipment repairs.

Requirements

  • Bilingual (Spanish) is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of environmental services experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience working with bargaining units and contract interpretation.
  • Knowledge of hospital infection prevention, sanitation protocols, and cleaning methods.
  • Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
  • AHE or IEHA Certification preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in all EVS policies and procedures.
  • Management skills including interviewing, organizing, planning, and problem-solving.
  • Knowledgeable in floor care procedures.
  • Training background in EVS & Nutrition cleaning process.
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred, or equivalent management skills and experience required.
