About the position

The Manager of Ceded Reinsurance Accounting at Everest Insurance Company is responsible for overseeing a team that supports the execution of business strategies and departmental initiatives. This role involves managing the ceded reinsurance accounting processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and collaborating with various functional areas to optimize operations and improve systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of professionals to facilitate execution that supports business strategy, team priorities, and department key initiatives.
  • Provide change management leadership across the ceded reinsurance accounting team, facilitating the adoption of processes and system improvements.
  • Effectively collaborate with multiple functional areas, including Ceded Re U/W, Direct U/W, Insurance Accounting and Finance, actuarial, and claims.
  • Prepare ceded accounts, bordereau production, and record ceded payable and recoverable amounts for domestic and foreign operations.
  • Liaise with underwriting, claims, and actuarial departments to ensure proper interpretation of complex reinsurance agreements.
  • Set up treaties and facultative reinsurance contracts in the ceded reinsurance accounting system.
  • Assist with quarterly financial reporting, analysis, and reconciliation of ceded reinsurance-related accounts.
  • Drive improvements to the Ceded Reinsurance accounting system and processes.
  • Maintain Sarbanes-Oxley internal control documentation.
  • Coordinate with outside departments to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Maintain positive relationships with reinsurance partners and represent the Company appropriately.
  • Assist in additional projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in accounting, finance, or business.
  • Ten (10) or more years of insurance finance/accounting experience.
  • Relevant experience in the Accounting Department of a property and casualty insurance or reinsurance company is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Understanding of functions pertaining to ceded reinsurance accounting is required.
  • Excellent PC skills; must be proficient in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables & VLOOKUPS).
  • Knowledge/experience with Global XL Pro system is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of SQL is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • A master's degree in accounting, finance, or business is preferred but not required.
  • Prior management experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration abilities.
  • Self-starter; capable of working both independently and within a team environment.
