As Manager, Internal Review, you will be accountable for the effective and efficient management of WorkplaceNL’s functions as it pertains to the internal review process, WCIRB representation, third party determinations, release of injured worker and employer file information, standards development and monitoring. You will ensure compliance with all board policies governing these areas and are responsible for meeting goals and objectives established for the department. The workers’ compensation system in Newfoundland and Labrador has two levels of review. The first level of review is the internal review process within WorkplaceNL. The Manager, Internal Review, provides oversight of the internal review process by ensuring prompt and analytical reviews are conducted within a policy-driven timeframe for any involved party who objects to decisions made under the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Act (the Act), regulations and policy. The second level of review is the external review process of the Worker’s Compensation Independent Review Board (WCIRB). This process ensures internal review’s final decisions comply with the Act, Regulations and WorkplaceNL policies.
