About the position

Alvarez & Marsal Tax is seeking a Manager to join our Federal Tax-Private Client Services practice. This role is pivotal in providing tax and consulting services to high net worth individuals, focusing on individual income tax, wealth transfer and succession planning, and international tax. The Private Client Services Tax practice is dedicated to building trusted relationships with clients, collaborating closely to compile project information and resolve complex tax issues. As a Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, researching, and analyzing a wide range of complex tax issues. You will demonstrate extensive technical skills in tax compliance assignments, proficiently working with specific tax forms such as 1040, 1041, 709, and FinCEN 114. You will also play a crucial role in supervising, developing, mentoring, and motivating our Associate and Senior Associate teams, ensuring their advancement through on-the-job training and performance feedback. Managing workloads and deadlines for your team will be essential, with a focus on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness. In addition to your managerial responsibilities, you will assist with business development efforts, creating resources and proposal materials to support add-on work. Responsibilities

  • Provide tax and consulting services to high net worth individuals in individual income tax, wealth transfer and succession planning, and international tax.
  • Identify, research, and analyze complex tax issues.
  • Demonstrate technical skills with tax compliance assignments for individual tax clients, working with forms such as 1040, 1041, 709, and FinCEN 114.
  • Supervise, develop, mentor, and motivate Associate and Senior Associate teams.
  • Manage workload and deadlines for Associates and Senior Associates, focusing on quality and efficiency.
  • Encourage open expression of ideas and actively seek diverse perspectives.
  • Assist with business development by creating resources and proposal materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 4 years of experience working with high net worth individuals in tax planning services.
  • CPA certification.
  • Proven experience leading and managing work streams and mentoring junior staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
  • Familiarity with GoSystems, OneSource, and research software is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
