About The Position

The Manager, Executive Development will have a broad range of responsibilities aimed at helping to support the essential work of the office of the chief development officer. This role assists in coordinating donor engagement efforts, preparing materials for fundraising activities, tracking portfolio activity, and supporting campaign and development initiatives. The role also provides high-level strategic support to the President & Chief Development Officer (CDO), working in close coordination with the Executive Assistant to ensure seamless alignment of development priorities, executive engagement, events, and board engagement, ensuring the CDO is prepared for donor and prospect interactions. They will need to be well versed in all aspects of a complex fundraising organization with knowledge and skills suitable to all areas noted here. The Manager will have a flexible work style to be able to transition quickly between multiple projects and levels of leaders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience working in healthcare, operations, marketing,or fundraising.
  • Experience working with various levels of management and managing multiple projects
  • A creative and strategic thinker with the ability to work independently on many projects and establish deadline goals.
  • The ideal candidate will also demonstrate an articulate, genuine touch; professional enthusiasm; ability to innovate and be resourceful; a strong work ethic; professional judgment; discretion; strong interpersonal skills; integrity; and exceptional analytical skills.
  • Strong computer skills with experience using standard office applications (Google Workplace) and complex fundraising databases (such as Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge).
  • Ability to create presentations, slide decks and agendas for internal and external meetings.
  • Strategic thinker who also can work on day-to-day.
  • The position may require the ability to travel to and work onsite in the region as needed as well as at the central offices in Edison.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Thorough knowledge of Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
  • Working knowledge of Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge or equivalent donor database.
  • Experience in a healthcare fundraising setting at a large multi-hospital system.
  • Direct Experience working in development and fundraising.
  • Working knowledge of and experience in event based fundraising.
  • Working knowledge of and experience in donor relations.
  • Working knowledge of fundraising principles and practices is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day support to the CDO related specifically to fundraising activities, donor engagement, and campaign priorities.
  • Prepare donor briefings, research summaries, meeting materials, and presentation documents for donor visits, board meetings, and cultivation activities.
  • Track donor portfolio activity, document next steps, monitor follow-up items, and help ensure timely movement of prospects through the cultivation cycle.
  • Enter, update, and review donor records in the database to ensure accuracy of contact reports, actions, and portfolio information in collaboration with Operations.
  • Coordinate scheduling of donor and development-related meetings in collaboration with the Executive Assistant, ensuring alignment with fundraising priorities.
  • Assist with preparation of development-related materials for board meetings and leadership sessions, including agendas, reports, and briefing documents.
  • Assist with preparation of strategic presentations in preparation for campaign, board, and donor meetings.
  • Facilitate timely thank-you letters, executive signatures, and donor follow-up correspondence as directed by the CDO, in coordination with Donor Relations.
  • Maintain coordination with the Executive Assistant for action items, commitments, and development-related projects to ensure accountability and follow-through on CDO priorities.
  • Handles items of a confidential nature and interacts with high level donors.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned, serving as back up for the Executive Assistant.
