About the position

The Manager of Environmental and Health and Safety at Hussey Copper is responsible for overseeing all environmental policies and procedures across multiple locations, ensuring compliance with company, state, and federal regulations. This role involves managing environmental permitting, compliance activities, and sustainability efforts while leading a team and conducting training for employees on environmental issues.

Responsibilities

• Manage a compliance calendar for environmental permitting and regulatory activities.
• Oversee the operation, compliance, and reporting of the facility's Wastewater Treatment System.
• Manage the disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials, including evaluation of options and recordkeeping.
• Lead ongoing sustainability efforts to achieve targeted improvements.
• Participate in the MDI process and serve as the lead for environmental issues, preparing and presenting information to leadership.
• Conduct routine inspections to meet compliance obligations and document findings.
• Oversee communications with employees regarding environmental issues.
• Conduct training for employees on EMS, waste handling, and pollution prevention.
• Participate in continuous improvement programs.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience as an Environmental Specialist or similar position in a heavy manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or a similar field required.
• Ability to read and interpret environmental and safety rules and procedures.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
