The Hearst Magazines Enthusiast & Wellness Group is seeking a skilled Editor and Content Strategist to be a key player at Oprah Daily. We are in search of a dynamic individual who excels in crafting compelling narratives through product reviews, personal essays, and service-oriented content. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in curating and refining stories to achieve editorial excellence, crafting captivating headlines, ensuring editorial adherence to best practices, and delivering clear, authoritative text. You’ll immerse yourself in the categories and pillars of the Oprah Daily audience and thoroughly evaluate the competitor set to build upon a top-tier strategy. Additionally, your familiarity with data analysis and reporting tools will be instrumental in shaping an effective content strategy. This role sits in New York, NY and is required to come into the office a minimum of 3 days a week. Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing a content strategy that aligns with the brand’s objectives, beginning with commerce content and progressively expanding into diverse content streams.
  • Manage and edit assignments for both staff and freelance writers, ensuring quality and consistency in all published materials.
  • Work closely with editorial, central commerce, and content strategy teams to explore new ideas that align with seasonal opportunities and brand objectives.
  • Collaborate on strategy and lead day-of execution for commerce tentpole events throughout the year.
  • Strengthen the Oprah Daily brand through credible content and impactful storytelling, optimizing each piece for its intended platform—be it organic search, Google Discover, Apple News, etc.
  • Innovate with content format and layout to refine the user experience, embracing a culture of testing and iteration.
  • Utilize data analytics tools to assess content performance and relay key insights and outcomes to relevant stakeholders.
  • Engage with the Enthusiast & Wellness Content Strategy Team to stay informed on best practices, industry developments, new initiatives, and collective goals.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in editorial and content strategy within a digital-first environment.
  • A sharp editor with strong storytelling abilities, dedicated to creating compelling headlines.
  • Capable of analyzing data and transforming it into actionable editorial strategies. Proficiency in tools like Google Analytics, Looker, and Skimlinks is essential.
  • A strong interest in monitoring and diversifying content consumption patterns online to enhance Oprah Daily's content streams.
  • Capable of handling multiple projects concurrently while thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Skilled in delivering constructive feedback that motivates and inspires writers.
  • Expert in building robust relationships and collaborating effectively with teams in editorial, content strategy, and beyond.
  • Availability to work during major shopping holidays.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $88k-95k, dependent upon transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands.
