About the position

The Mammography Technologist position at Detroit Medical Center involves performing mammography procedures while also taking on a leadership role to coordinate and oversee the work of other technologists. This role requires ensuring compliance with safety standards, managing workflow, and providing guidance to staff. The technologist will also be responsible for scheduling, performance monitoring, and maintaining high-quality diagnostic procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mammography procedures according to established policies and procedures.
  • Act as a lead or resource person for personnel involved in mammography procedures.
  • Coordinate the flow of work and delegate tasks to staff members.
  • Monitor the quantity and quality of work to ensure completion of tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, government regulations, and DMC policies.
  • Assist with performance improvement plans and provide input for personnel actions.
  • Schedule and manage timekeeping for mammography technologists.
  • Take call/standby as required by the department.

Requirements

  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Mammography (M).
  • Completion of American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BLS) training by end of orientation period.
  • Two or more years of progressively responsible Mammography Technologist work experience.
  • Analytical and clinical skills to determine appropriate radiographic methods.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to effectively instruct patients and work with diverse personnel.
  • Technical knowledge to operate specialized imaging equipment and computers.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a complex environment.
  • Knowledge of American College of Radiology requirements for accreditation.
  • Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.
