About the position

The Mammographer/Radiologic Technologist at Andalusia Health plays a crucial role in patient care by performing imaging procedures, educating patients, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. This position requires a blend of technical skills and patient interaction, contributing to the overall mission of promoting healing and preserving dignity for patients.

Responsibilities

  • Review patient history and physician's orders.
  • Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice when ordered.
  • Monitor patient condition continually and report/respond to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Assist physician with performing interventional procedures including fine needle aspiration and needle localization.
  • Prepare equipment and supplies for imaging procedures.
  • Select appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters for procedures.
  • Implement safety standards and perform quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and/or report equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) regulations and applicable accreditation.
  • Position patients and perform imaging procedures, biopsies, stereotactic and special procedures.
  • Analyze results and identify issues with the quality of imaging results.
  • Take appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patients and repeating procedures.
  • Enter, transmit, and report scan results.
  • Keep current with BiRad and follow-ups on all patients.
  • Perform breast ultrasound scans and breast ultrasound biopsies.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved course in Radiologic Technology.
  • One or more years of experience in Mammography preferred.
  • Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a stressful environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active membership in the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Desirable to belong to a national, regional, state and/or local society.
