About the position

The Major of Correctional Offenders in Food Service is responsible for overseeing food service operations within the Robertson Unit in Abilene, TX. This position requires a strong background in correctional custody, law enforcement, or food service management, with a focus on employee supervision and compliance with safety standards. The role includes moderate overnight travel and requires the ability to obtain ServSafe Food Safety Certification within the first year of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee food service operations within the correctional facility.
  • Supervise employees and ensure compliance with safety and health regulations.
  • Manage food service budgets and inventory.
  • Coordinate training and development for food service staff.
  • Ensure the maintenance of food safety certifications.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.
  • Six years of full-time, wage-earning correctional custody, law enforcement, or food service management experience.
  • Three years of supervisory experience.
  • Ability to obtain ServSafe Food Safety Certification within twelve months of employment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as an Operational Review Sergeant or Security Threat Group Sergeant.
  • Thirty semester hours in Criminal Justice from an accredited college or university.
