The Public Works and Parks, Recreations & Community Services Departments are actively seeking four (4) Maintenance Worker I's. This is service maintenance work in performing unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor tasks in the construction, maintenance, upkeep and repair of public works projects, public parks grounds, athletic fields, and associated right-of-way/public property maintenance duties. Work requires knowledge of standardized work routines and procedures for public works construction projects, landscape maintenance and ability to operate simple machinery and equipment, which can be learned on the job within several months. Contacts require courtesy, tact, and effectiveness in dealing with others to request or provide information, ask questions, or obtain clarification. Work is performed following specific instructions and established routines. The work is repetitive with little need to exercise judgment; situations are nearly the same and require choice of the correct procedure. Work is performed outdoors where there are some risks and hazards associated with operating machinery and vehicles on or near the roadway. Operates motor vehicles, machinery, and tools. Physical demands consist of working in adverse weather conditions, heavy physical exertion, and lifting and moving objects weighing fifty (50) pounds or more. Work is performed under immediate supervision where work assignments are well-detailed and well-prescribed by a superior or covered by established procedures and the worker is not permitted to deviate from established procedures.
