About the position

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting equipment issues, and ensuring all machinery and systems are in good working order. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure a safe working environment. The technician will maintain plant mechanical equipment and systems to ensure efficiency and minimal downtime, install, troubleshoot, and repair production presses and associated equipment, as well as hydraulic systems and components. Additionally, the technician will be responsible for electrical systems and devices, including motors, lighting systems, plant electrical systems (240V & 480V), HVAC, and PLC troubleshooting and programming. The position involves installation, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, cleaning, and repair of plant machinery and equipment. The technician will dismantle devices to gain access to remove and replace defective parts and reassemble them. Adjustments to functional parts of equipment will be necessary to obtain optimal settings. Tasks may range from fine adjustments requiring dexterity for circuit board repair to using both hands to apply pressure to break a pipe fitting or flange loose. The technician will diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, electrical, and electronic components while complying with company, quality, and safety standards, policies, and procedures. Other duties may be assigned as necessary. Responsibilities

  • Maintain plant mechanical equipment and systems to ensure efficiency and minimal downtime.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair production presses and associated equipment.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair hydraulic systems and components.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and devices, including motors, lighting systems, and plant electrical systems (240V & 480V).
  • Perform HVAC, PLC troubleshooting, and programming.
  • Conduct installation, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, cleaning, and repair of plant machinery and equipment.
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to remove and replace defective parts and reassemble them.
  • Adjust functional parts of equipment to obtain optimal settings.
  • Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, electrical, and electronic components.
  • Comply with company, quality, and safety standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and written instructions as necessary to complete assigned tasks.
  • Pass a generalized maintenance test and have knowledge of mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and electronics.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and maintenance shop equipment such as grinders, drill presses, pipe threaders, and band saws.
  • Use of precision measuring instruments such as dial calipers, dial indicators, and various sizes of micrometers.
  • Perform Millwright discipline, including alignment with dial indicators, installation of sheaves and belts, and verification and setting of belt tension.
  • Perform Pipefitter discipline, including installing, modifying, and repairing piping conduit and instrument tubing runs.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player with a high level of motivation.
  • Must be able to work 12-hour shifts, either 7 pm to 7 am or 7 am to 7 pm with rotating days.

Nice-to-haves

  • Graduate of a two-year technical/trade school or specialized in a technical skill (e.g., HVAC, Electrical, PLCs).
  • Ability to use a cutting torch and to bronze.
  • Proficient in welding.
  • Proficient in operation of a lathe.
  • Soldering capability.
  • Certified Maintenance Reliability Technician (CMRT) certification.
