Your day to day as a Maintenance Technician As a new Maintenance Technician at Barrett Petfood, you can expect to engage in a variety of hands-on tasks that are vital to maintaining our manufacturing equipment and facilities. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include conducting routine inspections, troubleshooting equipment issues, and performing repairs to ensure optimal operation. You'll be working closely with team members to address maintenance requests and implement improvement initiatives. With a schedule that spans Weekend Nights from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Friday through Sunday, you’ll have the opportunity to impact our production while enjoying weekday flexibility. Expect to collaborate on preventive maintenance tasks. This role will provide you with comprehensive training and support, allowing you to develop your technical skills while fostering a culture of integrity and high performance within the team. Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on mill equipment such as conveyors, grinders, mixers, mills, elevators, and packaging systems.
  • Daily checks of motors, bearings, chains and belts on conveyors.
  • Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues and perform timely repairs.
  • Maintain facility systems including boilers, compressors, HVAC, and utilities as required.
  • Assist with installation, modification, and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and production issues.
  • Work closely with production teams to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime.
  • Identify root causes of recurring issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Follow all safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements.
  • Electrical knowledge including but not limited to single phase 120V, three phase 480V, and 24VDC power systems
  • Assisting Mill personnel with Yard dogs and trailer repairs when needed
