About The Position

Nucor Rebar Fabrication Southwest is seeking a Maintenance Technician for their Salt Lake City, UT location. This role supports the fabrication division by performing machine repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The technician will also assist the safety team in designing, developing, and installing machine guards and safety devices, and advise the Branch Manager on machine purchasing and installation. Safety is paramount at Nucor, and candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to upholding safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards, adhering to Nucor Rebar Fabrication's safety programs and OSHA standards. The position involves performing routine maintenance for safe and optimal equipment functioning, scheduled preventive maintenance to ensure reliability and minimize downtime, and developing visual standards and checklists to empower operators with first-level maintenance. Additionally, the role requires maintaining a critical spare parts list to ensure component availability while supporting Lean inventory principles, troubleshooting and repairing equipment to maintain safety and production efficiency, generating parts lists and labor time estimates, training teammates on new or modified equipment, maintaining repair records, and performing other duties as assigned by a supervisor.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years’ experience working on hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical maintenance and repairs
  • Minimum two years’ experience in electrical maintenance and repairs
  • Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must be Familiar with OSHA safety standards
  • Must Adhere to Nucor Rebar Fabrication safety programs and OSHA safety standards
  • Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor Rebar Fabrication mission statement.

Nice To Haves

  • Two-year technical degree from an accredited school or college
  • Training in electrical controls, welding, mobile crane operation and rigging
  • Experience installing and programming electrical safety devices
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as with others to achieve a common goal.
  • Demonstrated communication skills necessary to coordinate teammates and schedule repairs or maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Support the fabrication division of Nucor Rebar Fabrication with machine repair, maintenance and trouble shooting.
  • Assist the safety team in the design, development and/or installation of machine guards and safety devices.
  • Advise Branch Manager in machine purchasing and installation.
  • Perform routine maintenance to ensure safe and optimum functioning equipment, systems, and processes.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability and minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Develop and maintain visual standards, checklists, and simple inspection routines that empower operators to own first‑level maintenance.
  • Maintain and grow the critical spare parts list to ensure availability of essential components while supporting Lean inventory principles.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and modify equipment to maintain workplace safety and production efficiency.
  • Generate parts lists and labor time estimates for maintenance and repairs.
  • Train key shop teammates on new equipment and/or modifications to existing equipment.
  • Maintain repair records.
  • Perform other duties as required by your supervisor.
