About The Position

The Maintenance Technician will support manufacturing operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all facilities and manufacturing equipment in a safe and orderly fashion as directed by the maintenance area/shift leader. The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned and required.

Requirements

  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and basic electrical systems.
  • Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
  • Must have good organizational skills.
  • Ability to exhibit high integrity and honesty.
  • Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, blueprints, diagrams, schematics, equipment instructions, requirements and business correspondences and effectively present information to various groups.
  • Fabrication and mechanical skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain fork truck certification.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair problems on plant facilities and production equipment of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic in nature.
  • Assist in the implementations and improvement of effective preventive maintenance programs for all equipment, perform scheduled maintenance on facilities and production equipment as required.
  • Maintain and update equipment records, schematics, blueprints and files in orderly fashion.
  • Remain current on maintenance and safety requirements and other training as required.
  • Complete all work in accordance with IOSHA, NEC, JIC and IDNR standards and regulations.
  • Complete correspondence, forms and reports using personal computer and required software.
  • Maintain department repair parts stock and inventory.
  • Work in a safe, quality minded, and productive manner with a sense of urgency to achieve maintenance deadlines and to attain production priorities as scheduled.
  • Attend daily pre-shift meetings and carry out assigned work loads as directed by shift/area leaders.
  • Communicate with maintenance manager and maintenance area/shift leaders, and other plant personnel about maintenance concerns, providing complete action plans and status reports as and when required.
  • Work with vendors and/or contractors, displaying company values of honesty and integrity.
  • Work with all shifts in design and development of improving methods and equipment through continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
  • May be required to adjust shifts as necessary.
  • Follow and support Magna Body & Chassis Iowa and Magna’s operating principles.
  • Support efforts to achieve department and plant goals on Employee Opinion Survey.
  • Responsible to help develop all maintenance apprentices and give guidance where needed.
