About the position

Homestead Companies is a fully integrated real estate company specializing in multifamily, student housing, and active 55+ living. We have over 7,000 student housing beds and over 2,500 multifamily units located in seven states with our home office in Columbus, OH. We are currently seeking a Maintenance Tech for our student housing community near Ohio State University. The Maintenance Tech assists the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure that the physical condition of the property and integrity of our buildings meet operational and safety standards. The Maintenance Tech participates in preventative maintenance, responds to work orders, and prepares units that contribute to an exceptional resident experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily inspections of the entire property to identify and remedy safety hazards and barriers to pleasant curb appeal, removing trash and debris throughout the day
  • Report current or potential safety hazards and/or code or lease violations and liability concerns promptly
  • Complete daily work orders as assigned and ensure all service requests and repairs are completed thoroughly and timely
  • Complete apartment unit punch-outs daily and in line with property goals
  • Assist Maintenance Supervisor in holding onsite vendors and contracts accountable for completion of contracted work as scheduled
  • Work with Maintenance Supervisor to maintain effective preventative maintenance programs and schedules, such as mold prevention, HVAC filter and coil cleaning, etc.
  • Assist Maintenance Supervisor with monitoring inventory of equipment, tools, parts and supplies at appropriate levels
  • Assist in the daily clean-up and general upkeep of common spaces and exteriors including leasing offices, unit models, outside grounds areas, breezeways, and all common areas, including amenity areas (spas/pools/fitness centers, etc)
  • Assist the Maintenance Supervisor with maintaining a hazard communications program
  • Participate in on-call rotation for emergency service

Requirements

  • Proficient technical skills and knowledge of various crafts such as renovations, carpentry, plumbing electric, heating, and drywall repair
  • Available to be on-call in the event of an emergency
  • Working knowledge of health, safety, and OSHA practices
