About the position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure the smooth operation of machinery and equipment. This role requires a high level of mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively. The technician will work primarily on weekends, focusing on preventive maintenance, repairs, and process improvements to support the company's strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with suppliers, review suppliers' services, payments, and invoices.
  • Maintain control of department reports and documents, including creating Excel spreadsheets or Access databases.
  • Handle unusual job events and deviate from accepted practices when necessary.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, schematics, and manuals.
  • Work on control devices, motors, PLCs, VFDs, and soft starts.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain HVAC systems, including replacing components and changing belts & filters.
  • Complete basic building/construction jobs such as building walls, door repair, painting, and lighting.
  • Perform basic plumbing tasks, including installing copper & PVC lines and rebuilding faucets.
  • Identify problems, design solutions, and implement projects, including metal projects using metalworking equipment.
  • Initiate process improvements in support of the strategic plan.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries and forward them to the appropriate team member for follow-up.
  • Lead TPM projects, including planning, training, implementation, and audits.
  • Ensure compliance with all department ISO processes.
  • Schedule outside contractors for preventative maintenance work orders and services.
  • Operate a forklift when necessary.
  • Be responsive to all machinery problems.

Requirements

  • 2 years of industrial maintenance experience (required).
  • Ability to work independently and with company personnel and vendors.
  • Good written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of mechanical aptitude and multi-talented.
