About the position

Hornig Companies is seeking a full-time Skilled Maintenance Technician to join their team in Minneapolis/St. Paul. This role involves responding to work orders, preparing units for new move-ins, and performing preventive maintenance across various properties. The technician will be responsible for a range of maintenance tasks, ensuring high-quality service and adherence to Fair Housing guidelines while maintaining a positive atmosphere for residents and coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Respond to work orders and perform maintenance tasks in a timely manner.
• Prepare units for new move-ins, ensuring they meet company standards.
• Perform plumbing repairs, including fixing leaking faucets and toilets.
• Conduct low-risk electrical diagnosis and repairs, including lighting and smoke detectors.
• Repair or replace building fixtures such as blinds and closet doors.
• Perform minor sheetrock repairs and address building construction issues like broken windows and locks.
• Diagnose and repair appliances to ensure functionality.
• Communicate effectively with residents regarding repairs, maintaining a customer service-oriented approach.

Requirements

• Mechanical knowledge and aptitude in plumbing and electrical systems.
• Valid Driver's License and ability to meet car insurance requirements.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks for up to 8 hours.
• Boiler's License or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Experience in multi-housing maintenance is a plus.
