About the position

Amentum is seeking a Maintenance Technician III to join the 1st shift team in Mossville, IL. This role is responsible for maintaining the company's buildings, facilities, and equipment in an operational and functional condition. The technician will perform a variety of mechanical maintenance tasks, including electrical repairs, plumbing, welding, and HVAC maintenance, ensuring that all work meets safety and building standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks that reflect substantial variety and complexity under general supervision.
• Review service requests for repairs and maintenance, determine the nature of the problem, and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Coordinate the day-to-day operations of a group of employees, assigning and monitoring work progress.
• Serve as a resource to others in resolving complex problems and issues.
• Coordinate work with outside contractors and ensure compliance with code and building standards.
• Perform repairs, modifications, and preventative maintenance on buildings, facilities, equipment, fixtures, and systems.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain facility systems based on dispatched service or work schedules.
• Document specific needs for materials, supplies, and instructions as required.
• Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Oversee subcontractor activities as directed by the supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
• Three years of experience performing mechanical maintenance in an industrial environment or equivalent education and experience.
• Ability to make decisions and communicate effectively as a senior technician.
• Basic knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and repair rotating facility equipment including fans and pumps.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot ventilation equipment, pumps, compactors, and fans in an industrial environment.
• Strong mechanical/electrical skills, including the ability to work safely with 3-phase power up to 480V.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to identify and correct safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations.
