About the position

The Maintenance Technician Electrical at Sargento is responsible for providing electrical and mechanical support for troubleshooting, repairing, rebuilding, or modifying machinery and facility-related equipment. The role focuses on ensuring safety, quality, and production standards are met through effective electrical and controls support for manufacturing and facility equipment. This position offers an opportunity to earn up to $80,000 per year, along with a $5,000 sign-on bonus, and operates on a 4th shift schedule from Sunday to Thursday, 10 PM to 6 AM.

Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical and mechanical support for troubleshooting, repairing, rebuilding, or modifying machinery or facility-related equipment.
  • Monitor and advise on proper electrical installation and troubleshooting techniques, ensuring compliance with electrical and control standards.
  • Participate in and write Lockout Tag Out procedures for new and upgraded equipment installations.
  • Perform PLC installation, replacement, diagnostics, and program changes.
  • Conduct PC-based control installations, replacements, diagnostics, and program interpretation.
  • Troubleshoot robotic control and feedback devices.
  • Troubleshoot and replace electrical field device components.
  • Source and size electrical supplies for equipment modifications and installations, including wire runs up to 480V.
  • Assess electrical training needs within the maintenance group for safety and developmental purposes.
  • Maintain and promote a safe working environment, adhering to safety precautions and measures.
  • Execute Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and maintain strict housekeeping of work areas.
  • Utilize predictive maintenance diagnostic tools and procedures, interpreting and documenting results to prevent failures.
  • Systematically troubleshoot, repair, and replace mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic parts for manufacturing equipment.
  • Complete work order assignments within the directed time frame and report any deviations through proper channels.
  • Engage in Continuous Improvement initiatives and Root Cause Analysis, suggesting improvements based on repetitive failures or substandard practices.
  • Optimize and refine preventive maintenance tasks based on findings.
  • Provide support for opposing shifts and maintenance-related activities or projects.
  • Interact daily with the production team regarding maintenance items as needed.
  • Share newly learned discoveries related to repair or troubleshooting techniques with the team.
  • Assist in training Maintenance Apprentices, Machine Specialists, and other employees, validating work performed as required.
  • Communicate professionally and technically with maintenance, operations, engineering, and other resources to resolve machine-related issues.
  • Maintain minimum proficiency levels as defined by the Maintenance Technician Skills Matrix.
  • Rotate and understand all equipment functions of the plant.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or plant engineer.

Requirements

  • An Associate degree in a technical discipline or a journey worker credential in an accredited technical discipline is required for advancement to Skill level 3 and above.
  • Additional electrical and mechanical on-the-job training demonstrated skill set preferred.
  • Knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Additional educational courses may be required to sustain departmental/individual technological levels and licenses.
