About the position

Sovah Health is seeking a dedicated HVAC Technician to maintain all heating, cooling, ventilation, refrigeration units, and associated equipment and systems in a safe and cost-effective manner. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing central chilled water equipment, control air handling equipment, individual window room air conditioners, and all refrigeration equipment. This role also includes the operation and maintenance of systems associated with air conditioning equipment, including pneumatic and electrical control systems, cooling towers, chillers, and DMS-350 equipment. The HVAC Technician will perform daily equipment checks, maintain tools and test equipment in good working order, and manage the procurement of supplies from local vendors. Routine preventative maintenance on all required equipment is essential, as is the fabrication of parts that are not commercially available. The technician will supervise the training of General Maintenance Technicians in the HVAC and Refrigeration field and coordinate, install, and order parts for construction projects related to HVAC/Refrigeration. Safety is a priority, and the technician must adhere to facility and departmental safety policies at all times. Accurate record-keeping of repairs, preventative maintenance, and medical gas readings is required. The technician will also perform minor repairs to equipment, structures, and environmental systems, including thermostat adjustments, filter changes, and maintenance of equipment rooms and shop areas. Additional responsibilities include assisting with construction projects, moving office furnishings, and maintaining a daily log of activities. The technician will document all information required by the preventative maintenance program and perform any other duties as assigned by the manager.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all heating, cooling, ventilation, refrigeration units and associated equipment and systems.
  • Operate, maintain and repair central chilled water equipment.
  • Repair all control air handling equipment.
  • Maintain and repair all individual window room air conditioners.
  • Maintain and repair all refrigeration equipment.
  • Operate, maintain and repair all systems associated with air conditioning equipment, including pneumatic and electrical control systems, cooling towers, chillers, and DMS-350 equipment.
  • Maintain and repair all steam converters and associated equipment.
  • Perform daily equipment checks and maintain tools and test equipment in good working order.
  • Pick up supplies from local vendors and order all parts and supplies necessary for HVAC shop needs.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on all required equipment and fabricate parts needed that are not commercially available.
  • Supervise training of all General Maintenance Technicians in HVAC and Refrigeration field.
  • Repair all ice machines and associated equipment.
  • Coordinate, install and order all parts for construction projects related to HVAC/Refrigeration.
  • Follow facility and departmental safety policies at all times.
  • Keep accurate records of repairs and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Responsible for minor repairs to equipment, structures, and environmental systems.
  • Check and make thermostat adjustments, repair/replace and mount televisions, change filters on all heating and cooling units, and clean and maintain equipment rooms and shop areas.
  • Replace broken belts on air handler units as needed and reset/check out tripped circuit breakers in electrical panels.
  • Acknowledge and reset fire alarm system, assist in construction projects, and replace ceiling tiles as needed.
  • Keep daily log updated and document all information required by the preventative maintenance program.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Minimum ten (10) years experience in HVAC in lieu of Master/Journeyman's Card.
  • Master/Journeyman's card & Certificate in Universal Refrigeration Transition and recovery required.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including weekends and holidays.
