About The Position

This is a safety sensitive position which performs weed control of District canals, laterals and ditches, minor mechanical and general maintenance service to keep the maintenance fleet operational. Perform minor welding needed to keep maintenance equipment operational and perform minor repairs or replacement of canal gates and structures as well as diversion dams and flood control dams. Responsible to the Maintenance Foreman in the area assigned for related jobs in cooperation with the Fabrication Foreman. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Must have at least six (6) months’ experience with basic weed control spraying, basic mechanical duties, tire service, and basic welding.
Knowledge of agricultural equipment is a must.
Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable.
Must pass post-offer, pre-employment drug screen, medical exam, and motor vehicle report in compliance with District insurance guidelines.

Nice To Haves

CDL and Spray License preferred.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the minor repair of equipment throughout the District.
Monitor the performance of the equipment and assist with preventative maintenance.
Make minor adjustments or replacements while in the field including minor tire repair and report any major problems to the Maintenance Foreman.
Assist mechanics in making minor repairs on other equipment.
Responsible for minor repairs and installation of turnouts, check structures and other operational facilities in the area assigned.
Must perform basic welding jobs and repairs related to the maintenance request.
Operate and maintain the assigned welding truck; ensure that adequate care is taken, and supplies are kept in the truck to accomplish work as needed.
Document all repairs and necessary paperwork to ensure completion of work.
Assist Fabrication Foreman with maintenance jobs that require additional knowledge and manpower.
Assist Fabrication Foreman with major welding jobs.
Maintain and log all work orders, complete and incomplete.
Furnish Maintenance Foreman with progress report on all work orders assigned.
Inspect, repair, and report any problems on District system to prevent future breakdowns, or damage to the system.
Coordinate with Maintenance Foreman for major repairs with the canal systems during water season.
Responsible for compliance with safety rules and regulations.
Responsible for knowing and abiding by all department and District policies and procedures.
Attendance during scheduled shift.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned.
