About the position

The individual in this position assists the Maintenance Manager with supervising the maintenance staff and helps with planning and distributing work within the department. This role is crucial in ensuring that equipment is maintained effectively to minimize downtime. The position requires a high degree of professionalism, independent judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively with others. The supervisor is responsible for implementing and ensuring adherence to all procedures and policies. They must act as a management team player, leading efforts in efficiency, accountability standards, and continuous improvement concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Actively supports the Maintenance staff.
  • Looks for and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Participates in weekly coordination meetings to prioritize weekly schedule activities.
  • Ensures good housekeeping and safe work practices are followed.
  • Performs all job functions with honesty and professionalism.
  • Interacts with coworkers fairly and impartially.
  • Reads the production schedule to plan staff work.
  • Prioritizes work when required.
  • Reviews daily production schedule to plan maintenance work.
  • Prepares required paperwork or reports for major repairs and topics.
  • Recognizes good work performed by employees.
  • Establishes work schedules for maintenance personnel for efficient handling of maintenance and repair requests.
  • Ensures all equipment is operating in normal condition.
  • Assigns work orders to maintenance personnel.
  • Enforces accuracy of maintenance work and confirms completion.
  • Enforces company safety rules, procedures, and GMP guidelines.
  • Maintains preventative maintenance records in the MP2 system.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly maintenance area and ensures sanitation rules are followed.
  • Supervises and assists with special projects.
  • Maintains knowledge related to maintenance matters.
  • Ensures communication between shifts on maintenance-related issues.
  • Ensures shift coverage regarding staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or vocational training.
  • Five (5) or more years of maintenance-related experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of maintenance supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of food processing/manufacturing machines and equipment.
  • Experience in preventive maintenance programs, both in installation and upkeep.
  • PLC, electrical/electronic skills, and overall maintenance troubleshooting ability.
  • Strong manufacturing background with specific knowledge of Bakery operations.
  • Strong electrical background.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics.
  • Knowledge of operation, repair, and maintenance of plant equipment.
  • Ability to document personnel records.
  • Ability to follow project timelines.
  • Strong background in Lock Out Tag Out process.
  • Welding and/or fabricating background.
  • Strong background in Preventive Maintenance.
  • Ability to lead people.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Team player.
  • Self-reliant and able to lead change.
