Responsibilities

  • Performs advanced (senior level) restoration, renovation, building maintenance and construction work in a designated skilled trade.
  • Work involves renovation, restoration, alteration, making inspections, adjustments, installations, maintaining and repairing buildings, utility systems, and stationary equipment.
  • Processes paperwork related to work orders, projects, and material requisitions.
  • Acts as lead worker, providing training and guidance to others; assigns, and/or prioritizes workload.
  • Performs inspections, adjustments, maintenance and repair work in accordance with recognized codes and standards on building systems.
  • Maintains, tests, troubleshoots and repairs all components associated with the fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems.
  • Performs repairs and renovations to modernize a building, building system or adapt it to new uses.
  • Selects appropriate material to replace and repair building or building systems.
  • Acts as a lead worker and provides direction to others on construction, maintenance, or repair projects.
  • Maintains safe and uninterrupted services to campus operations and programs systems.
  • Accurately processes paperwork and maintains records on work orders, projects, and material requisitions.
  • Operates machinery such as backhoes, forklifts, etc. as necessary.
  • Trains others on the proper procedures and methods for repairs or inspections.
  • Provides inspections on work performed by contractors to ensure contract compliance.

Requirements

  • Vocational training in one or more of the following trades required: electrical, plumbing, masonry, mechanical equipment, locksmithing, painting, motor vehicle maintenance, grounds keeping, equipment maintenance, HVAC, carpentry, welding, or electronic cabling.
  • Minimum four (4) years' experience in construction, maintenance, or equipment/vehicle repair work as follows: Experience in at least two trades.
