Reporting to the Acheson Shops Manager, you will ensure the proper deployment of job resources including ordering parts, assigning personnel work duties, and executing a Planning Schedule. Requirements

  • Journeyman (Journeyperson) Heavy Equipment Technician certification required.
  • Post secondary education or equivalent experience relating to shop/field supervision.
  • AMSA (Alberta Mining Safety Association) certificate.
  • Three years experience in a supervisory position in a heavy equipment shop.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Trained in CSTS, WHMIS and Standard First Aid.
  • Have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and ability to provide a recent Driver’s Abstract
  • Undergo and successfully pass the following pre-employment testing: Breath Alcohol Test, Urine Drug Test, Fitness-to-Work Health Assessment, Audiometric Testing, Vision Screening, Criminal Record Check.

Responsibilities

  • Setup and present a morning PSI Meeting.
  • Do a morning check in with all employees, and assess fit to work.
  • Assign work to each employee.
  • Check and approve Time Cards for hours worked, work preformed, proper Time Card Coding.
  • Fill out Requisitions and order parts for jobs and shop consumables.
  • Prepare and present Weekly Safety Meeting.
  • Review Daily/Weekly work plans and ensure appropriate actions are taken to address KPI performance issues.
  • Secure and ensure proper deployment of job resources including ordering parts, requesting personnel, tools and consumables.
  • Ensure and enforce compliance to all company, client and legislated safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all new hires/transfers receive required orientations. Attend and participate in site specific orientations.
  • Conduct daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections and complete follow-up activities.
  • Ensure adequate and suitable safety equipment, including PPE, is supplied, readily accessible, properly used and maintained.
  • Review safe work plans/ hazard assessment with crew prior to job commencement.
  • Conduct incident investigations and prepare associated support documentation immediately.
  • Ensure the effective use of the work order system.
  • Participate in the hiring process for new personnel and the discipline of current personnel as required.
  • Coordinate with the Equipment Superintendent to ensure proper training of personnel
