About the position

The Maintenance Planner I at Calpine Corporation is responsible for creating and managing maintenance plans that ensure the continued operation of equipment and systems critical to the company's business operations. This role involves coordinating with plant management to develop work schedules, monitoring maintenance requests, and managing resources to optimize plant productivity. The position requires a blend of technical knowledge and administrative skills to support maintenance operations effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Create maintenance plans to ensure continued operation of equipment and systems.
  • Determine, monitor, and administer maintenance and operation work schedules.
  • Develop and implement work schedules in coordination with plant management and project managers.
  • Evaluate maintenance, operations, and engineering needs for planning purposes.
  • Manage long lead time items and provide support to the management team on resource management.
  • Investigate and resolve maintenance issues, assessing the priority of maintenance requests.
  • Formulate maintenance plans, including budgetary information and material requirements.
  • Manage inventory and ensure obsolete equipment is remediated annually.
  • Collaborate with operations on hazard isolation and critical component requirements.
  • Advise management on best practices for coordinating resources to achieve maintenance goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in maintenance, engineering-related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in maintenance and plant operations.
  • Expertise in department-specific software, databases, and spreadsheets, particularly Maximo.
  • Strong understanding of power maintenance and plant operations functions.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with job planning and labor management.
  • Familiarity with job estimating and outage readiness checklists.
