About the position

Maintenance mechanics support operations by maintaining equipment, troubleshooting when problems arise, and repairing machines when broken down. They perform troubleshooting and repairs for all facets of modern automated equipment. This is a position where a candidate can continue to improve their skills and grow into more advanced roles.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems on automated equipment.
  • Answer calls for maintenance quickly and fully prepared to make any repairs needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance routines as assigned.
  • Complete assigned work request repairs.
  • Complete all related forms and paperwork prior to the end of shift.
  • Be visible and readily available on the plant floor to assist other departments as needed.
  • Complete preventative and predictive maintenance tasks during running and scheduled shutdowns.
  • Maintain shop and shop equipment in a clean and safe condition.
  • Ensure all equipment is in a sanitary condition after performing work prior to release back to the Production department.
  • Test run all equipment after any repairs or P.M.'s.
  • Provide and maintain your own hand tools, including wrench sets, pliers, socket sets, hammers, punches, etc.
  • Be food safety minded with attention to details when working on equipment or near the product.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Practice and comply with all company policies and procedures including safety and work rules.
  • Ensure proper G.M.P.'s are followed at all times.
  • Sweep shop prior to end of shift daily.
  • Dispose of unserviceable used parts prior to end of shift.
  • Maintain parts storage areas in an orderly manner.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Management.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in plant maintenance or general commercial mechanic experience.
  • Technical Training or Trade School Diploma desired.
  • Must possess/maintain a valid license to operate applicable equipment.
  • Must be physically capable of moving to all areas of the plant.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, crawl under and onto equipment and work in tight spaces.
  • Must be able to read, comprehend and practice necessary safety procedures, signs, etc.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong mechanical ability.
  • Strong understanding of basic tools.
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 50lbs.
  • Ability to work on your feet for hours at a time, and in hot environments.
