About The Position

The Maintenance & Grounds Technician is a High-performing Tech responsible for maintaining facility systems, equipment, and grounds in safe, efficient working conditions. This intermediate-level role requires the ability to troubleshoot, repair, and complete preventative maintenance across multiple disciplines with limited supervision. This position plays a key role in reducing reliance on outside contractors by performing skilled in-house maintenance. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who works independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across multiple maintenance disciplines.
  • Ability to work independently and complete tasks with limited supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and basic blueprints.
  • Ability to recognize safety hazards and communicate effectively.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend, twist, climb ladders, and work in various indoor and outdoor conditions.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven ability to safely troubleshoot, install and repair line voltage and low voltage electrical systems, including basic controls and panel work (electrical license preferred).
  • Experience in greenhouse, agricultural, or industrial maintenance environments.
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills.
  • Experience with VFDs, motor controls, irrigation systems, or automated equipment.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) is highly desired.
  • 3+ years of maintenance or related experience preferred.
  • Technical certificate or associate degree in a maintenance-related field is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform installation, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with complex repairs and identify work that can be completed in-house to reduce outside vendor expenses.
  • Diagnose equipment failures and implement effective repairs with minimal supervision.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and equipment breakdowns promptly and effectively, including occasional after-hours or emergency situations.
  • Safely operate and perform basic maintenance on equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, skid steers, and track loaders.
  • Perform groundskeeping duties including mowing, trimming, spraying, and snow removal.
  • Assist with facility upkeep, equipment moves, and general labor tasks.
  • Execute and help improve preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend corrective actions or long-term solutions.
  • Maintain organized workspaces, tool storage, and parts inventory.
  • Accurately document work performed, labor hours, and materials used in the CMMS system.
  • Assist in maintaining appropriate stock levels of critical spare parts.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple work orders effectively with minimal oversight.
