About The Position

The Maintenance Coordinator must possess the confidence and competence that is necessary to maintain facilities that meet the standards set by the YMCA. They must be responsible and self-motivated. Must possess the ability to cooperate and effectively communicate with supervisor, coworkers, volunteers, vendors, and our program participants and members. All tools, equipment and materials needed to perform the duties of the Maintenance Coordinator will be provided by the YMCA. The Coordinator will be responsible for the over all coordination of an activity within one function or department. Must be able to work well with and possible direct the work of others. The Function Coordinator must possess the competence and confidence to administer the effective and quality coordination of the function. They must be responsible and at least 18 years of age. They must have the ability to cooperate and work with YMCA staff to provide a quality program or product. The Coordinator must demonstrate good communication and problem solving skills along with a good understanding of the community that he/she is working with. If Supervising, Supervisor's Training preferred, and Get SMART. Upon hire, must complete Intro to the Ys Cause & Culture, Y's Way to Service & Engagement, and I Hear You: Service with CARE. Refer to current training plan for specific function to identify additional required trainings for this position.

Requirements

  • Must be able to cooperate and effectively communicate with supervisor, coworkers, volunteers, vendors, and our program participants and members.
  • Must be able to build and maintain a good working relationship with all YMCA vendors.
  • Must be familiar with basic hand tools and power tools
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must be able to pass a Level II background check
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Individual may need to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to work well with and possible direct the work of others.
  • Must be responsible and at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have the ability to cooperate and work with YMCA staff to provide a quality program or product.
  • Must demonstrate good communication and problem solving skills along with a good understanding of the community that he/she is working with.
  • This individual must familiarize themselves with YMCA rules and policies.
  • Since this position is dealing directly with program participants and their parents, good verbal communication skills are beneficial.
  • This individual needs to be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
  • This individual may be required to stand for extended periods of time while demonstrating physical stamina and agility.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 yrs + construction/handyman experience preferred
  • CPO certification preferred (Will provide training if necessary)
  • If Supervising, Supervisor's Training preferred, and Get SMART.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all maintenance needs under the direction of the Maintenance Director.
  • Communicate all maintenance needs and projects with the Maintenance Director and Branch Executive Director
  • Supervise all volunteers that work directly in the department
  • Create a nurturing and safe environment by reporting suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse or may violate the code of conduct.
  • Keep workshop/offices organized and well stocked of all supplies required for daily operations
  • Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to: Painting, minor plumbing repair, minor electrical repair, maintaining equipment, cleaning, pressure washing, grounds keeping, minor irrigation repair. safety checks, monitor and maintain monthly safety checklist.
  • Must be able to build and maintain a good working relationship with all YMCA vendors.
  • Identifying problems and report to supervisor
  • Coordinate the function under the direction of the supervisor.
  • Keep supplies organized, maintain and clean facility and care for equipment.
  • Keep a clean and organized work area.
  • Ensure any communication reflects the YMCA voice.
  • Always wear the YMCA staff shirt, name tag, and appropriate attire.
  • Distribute materials and make program announcements as needed to promote function.
  • Report any new or continuing problem that may arise.
  • Role model SMART behavior.
