About the position
The Assistance Payments Worker plays a crucial role in supporting Michigan families by ensuring they receive the appropriate public assistance. This position involves assessing the needs of applicants, providing necessary information, and making referrals to help families achieve self-sufficiency. The role requires a commitment to guiding families through the assistance process and promoting the goals of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).
Responsibilities
- Ensure that each person/family applying for public assistance receives the appropriate type and level of assistance they are eligible for.
- Assess the needs of each person/family and provide appropriate information and referrals to agencies that can assist them.
- Provide families with information about the expectations and goals of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).
- Encourage and guide families in their efforts to become self-supporting.
Requirements
- Experience in public assistance programs or related fields.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with families and agencies.
- Ability to assess needs and provide appropriate referrals and resources.
Nice-to-haves
