Starting Pay : $20.30 per hour plus additional shift differential for evenings, nights and weekends. This position is responsible for the set-up, cleaning, storage, maintenance and operation of 7 Nova-Tech chick processing robots, toe trimmers and processing chicks. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months. If applicant has been laid off or providing child or elder care, the employment gap will be increased to 18 months.
  • Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.
  • Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.
  • Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.
  • Must be able to read, write, perform simple math and record data while completing paperwork for all scheduled maintenance.
  • Must use safe lifting techniques.
  • Must be able to bend to pick up boxes.
  • Must have good communication skills to accurately convey opinions and concerns.
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.).
  • Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred.
  • Applicants must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up 4 day one robots, 3 by-product robots each morning for processing chicks in a timely manner (10%).
  • Preventative maintenance and cleaning robots (15%)
  • Communicate with robot operators to ensure proper function of equipment (10%).
  • Troubleshoot robots for potential problems (10%).
  • Performs toe trim for identification purposes if required and dub/mark male birds per customer order. (5%)
  • Grade newly hatched chicks for defects. (10%)
  • Operate robot to vaccinate, beak treat birds per customer order. (10%)
  • Transfer chicks from boxes to grading wheel. (5%)
  • Must be able to read, write, perform simple math and record data while completing paperwork for all scheduled maintenance (10%).
  • Take daily plate samples (10%).
  • Ensure needles and vaccine lines are the correct length and are set correctly.
  • Help clean equipment at the end of the day.
  • Properly euthanize weak/ill chicks in accordance with company policy, despur male birds according to customer order.
  • Stacks and moves boxes of processed chicks.
  • Processes chicks and runs robots.
  • Occasionally operate a high pressure and regular water hose, maintain a clean and organized work area, wash robot parts.
  • Occasionally be required to pull/push loaded wheeled cart weighing 500 to 1000 pounds. (5%).
