About the position
The Machine Operator is responsible for safely operating production machines, ensuring quality control, and maintaining efficient production processes. This role involves setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to meet customer demand while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate production machines safely and efficiently.
- Participate in the Plant Safety Committee and comply with safety rules.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Processes (GMPs) and quality procedures.
- Maximize equipment utilization and improve setup times.
- Identify mechanical concerns and report them to supervisors.
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping of work areas.
- Train and assist Assistant Machine Operators and other staff.
- Complete necessary reports accurately and timely.
- Make recommendations for optimizing production schedules.
- Work overtime and on holidays as necessary.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior work experience in the packaging industry preferred.
- 6 months' experience in a manufacturing operation preferred.
- Ability to read and follow instructions and safety protocols.
- Mathematical skills to calculate figures and measurements.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in the paper or plastics industry.
- Lift Truck Operator License.
