About The Position

This is an Alternate Work Week position (FSS 6am-630pm) for a Machine Operator 1 at RTX, a global aerospace and defense company. The role involves operating a variety of production machines, performing routine operations, producing blades and/or vanes, and conducting quality checks. The position requires shift work and the ability to work overtime when needed. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting process sheets, deburring and cleaning parts, making minor offset changes, changing set-ups, documenting information, keeping dimensional data, utilizing measuring devices, assessing product acceptance based on blueprint specifications, running all equipment in the work loop, and producing product per standard work. Additionally, operators must clock labor in Solumina, perform Daily Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM), and keep equipment and work areas clean (5S). The role involves frequent movement around the machine line, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, and transporting product/equipment up to 10 pounds. Tasks may be modified based on skill level and performance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Previous Manufacturing experience or education or Advanced Manufacturing Certification

Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of production machines including washer, shot peen, furnace, water & air flow, electrode assembly, laser weld, tack weld, laser ablation, tape & wax, x-ray, bake and detailer.
  • Perform routine operations and produce blades and/or vanes.
  • Perform all quality checks.
  • Read and interpret process sheets, gage, deburr and clean parts.
  • Make minor offset changes (if required) and change set ups.
  • Document information on check sheets and keep dimensional data on run charts.
  • Utilize measuring devices and assess product acceptance based on blueprint specification(s).
  • Run all equipment in the entire work loop and produce product per standard work.
  • Clock labor in Solumina.
  • Perform Daily Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) and document results.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean (5S).
  • Frequently move about the machine line to operate various manufacturing equipment (approximately 90% of the time), bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, transport product and/or equipment weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • Carry out tasks not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this position in support of department objectives and to develop one’s skills.
